Join the movement to show our leaders that people from around this united Planet Earth want action at COP27. We need clear roadmaps for a Carbon neutral Earth before 2050!
But we need much more than that! We have muddled through on just pledges for far too long- Governments from around the world must take action now if we are to keep warming to just 1.5°C.
A report from researchers at Stanford University states that the cost of switching to renewable, zero-Carbon energy by 2050 would be $73 trillion. Now that sounds like a massive amount of money... right? Well yes, it is! That just makes it all the more astonishing that this $73 trillion would be paid back in just 7 years! After 7 years we would be saving money at an astounding rate; money that can then be put into funding yet more green infrastructure.
The role of a leader is not to ensure the strength, power or profit of their own nation, but to be a representative of their homeland on the global stage, and to unite with other leaders from around the world to ensure the health, peace, safety and future of their generation and generations to come, and to meet the needs of humanity as a whole, on this one planet Earth. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. In this case, the needs of the entire planet outweigh the needs of billionaires rolling in dirty cash.
Since you started reading this, several football fields worth of trees have been chopped down. Yet more lives have been claimed by climate change. More homes lost. Our leaders could make a very significant advance against climate change. They could have done something about this at COP26, and yet they did not. They could do something about this now, and yet they do not. They could do something about this at COP27, and yet they will not. Unless we make them!
